Protagonists of Garibaldi Tall Ships Regatta 2010 is the  &quot;Tall Ships&quot; - or &quot;vessels with high trees&quot; - of the  schools of sea around the world and their crews composed of professional  sailors and more than 150 young volunteers, aged from 16 to 25 years, lovers of the  sea and sailing.</p>
<p> The tall ships,  moored in Trapani from 16 to 19 April, will be the focus of an intense program  of activities: excursions to discover the excellence of the cultural and  historical heritage of the area, visiting tall ships at berth, exhibitions,  cultural, social and competitions for schools, the White Night, shows and  concerts, sporting events and important guests!</p>

The exhibited works come from <strong>Trapani,  Erice, Salemi and Alcamo.</strong> </p>
<p><strong>Visiting hours </strong>Monday - Friday 16.30 /  19.30 - Saturday and Sunday 9.30 / 12.30 - 16/20, Sundays and public holidays  11/13 - 16/19.</p>

Of course the period is not  suitable for a swim in the sea or for a sunbath (although the average  temperature during this period is between 18 and 22 degrees), but there are  many other good reasons &quot;in the program.&quot;</p>

<p>  From 4th  to 8th  December in Marsala the wine will be the  protagonist of a real festival, this great event for four days will see  the  wine on  the center of several activities and events:  conventions and meetings with experts, city tours and archaeological places of  the neighbourhood (as Mozia), sports competitions, tastings of typical products  and much more.</p>

<p><strong>&quot;Wine Weekend, Showcase of Alcamo Doc&quot;  in Alcamo (25 minutes from Trapani)</strong></p>
<p> Three days dedicated to the wine world, its suggestions and sensations and in  particular to Alcamo Doc, one of the most popular Doc in Sicily. The  exhibition, the first edition, will take place December from 4th  to 6th in Alcamo (Trapani), in  western Sicily. The event consists of   tasting and themed meetings, guided tours at the cellars of the  &quot;Wine Road Alcamo Doc&quot; and the museum of wine, dinners with themed  menus at restaurants, shows of the famous &quot;Pupi Siciliani&quot;. The event  also provides <strong>TINTURIA</strong> (Note Sicilian band) in concert on  Saturday 6th at 22.30.</p>

<p>  <strong>&quot;Erice Cibus Venus - temptations of Agro  Ericino&quot; in Erice (15 minutes from Trapani) </strong></p>
<p> The old town of Erice from 8th   to 13th  December will  be the stage of the event &quot;Erice Cibus Venus - temptations of agro Erice,  an event organized at the opening of the local Enoteca. Among the activities  planned there are tasting of the typical cakes prepared by monks of Erice,  roast chestnuts and mulled wine, a wine shop tours, tourist-based menus of  local specialties at the restaurants, street artists, film screenings,  concerts, among which <strong>MORGAN's one</strong> (known Italian artist and  presenter of the television program X-Facotor).</p>

Old and new traditions,  religion, folklore and culinary blend together to make one this period of the  year.</p>
<p> The table is prepared with typical Sicilian dishes. Like <strong>Cuccìa  of Saint Lucia</strong>, that inaugurate this holiday, dishes prepared just for  December 13, day of the patron. The classic and famous Sicilian <strong>Cassata,</strong> that requires ingredients like sponge cake, ricotta and icing sugar. The <strong>Buccellato</strong>,  nougat like cedar, obtained by cooking chopped cedar and orange peel with  honey, cinnamon and vanilla. I<strong> Mostaccioli or Mustazzola</strong>, and  also the <strong>cakes with figs</strong>, formerly offered at the end of the  Christmas novena, the <strong>Cassatelle</strong>, Pastries stuffed with  ricotta, <strong>the Sfinci</strong>, donuts based on potato starch.<br />
  To symbolize the arrival of the holidays there is also the <strong>nurture cribs, that are of </strong>different shapes, types and  materials. </p>
<p>The <strong>Pepoli Museum of Trapani holds </strong> a rich collection of <strong>cribs made in  gold, silver and coral, w</strong>orks made by famous sculptors like John  Matera. Whole villages become <strong>live nativity</strong>, where the  inhabitants under the sound of bagpipes and songs of the novena, dress in old  clothes and staged ancient crafts. The oldest and most beautiful among the l<strong>iving  nativities</strong> is the<strong> Custonaci one</strong>, just 15 minutes from  Trapani, in the cave of prehistoric Mangiapane Scurati (from 25 December to 6  January 2010).</p>

We are talking about the absolute  first exhibition of the marvellous <strong>wooden Crucifix attributed to  Michelangelo</strong> bought by Italy last month. The work was already exhibited at  Rome last December, in the Yellow Room of&nbsp;  Montecitorio, and it was visited by <strong>28.000  visitors </strong>(with peaks of more than 1000 people a day). It is the <strong>longest  Italian religious event</strong> and it is also among the oldest. The sacred groups  of the Misteri go around for most part of the city streets, among the  spectaculars lights, sounds, colours and emotions. It is a group of 20 artistic  portraits of the <strong>Passion and Death of Christ,</strong> they are exactly 18  groups, plus the two simulacrums of Jesus died and of Our Lady of Sorrows.
